Spring Decor Ideas
If you have visited the boutique lately you may have seen our spring inspired decor. From tissue flowers to whimsical parasols, I'm going to show you how we created the look.
Today I'll show you how to make tissue flowers, or pom-poms
They are fairly simple to make, with a little patience and plenty of tissue paper.
What you will need
-Tissue paper (any colors you like)
-Fishing line
-Scissors
For the sake of saving some money I bought regular gift-wrap tissue paper bought in various colors. You can however buy packs of pre-folded tissue flowers by Martha Stewart.
-Start by taking 6-8 sheets of tissue paper and cut them in half.
-Fold the stack of 6-8 sheets and fold accordion style.
-Keep folded and cut the two ends into either rounded or triangle points to form your pedals.
-Fold your accordion in half while still folded and tie fishing line around the crease that is formed.
You should have something that looks like this:
-Begin to pull each tissue towards the center until your flower starts to form (Be cautious not to tear your tissue)
-Pretty soon you will have a beautiful tissue flower that can be used anywhere you need a pretty touch!

Valentines Decorating Ideas
To get into the Valentines Day spirit here is a decorating idea that you can find adorning the Boutique this month!
These 3-D hearts make for a festive chandelier, with some inspiration a la Martha Stewart (http://www.marthastewart.com/273679/bonbon-filled-hearts?backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/valentines-day-decor)
Tools:
Pink Poster Paper (I got mine at Target)
Pink tissue paper (from the boutique)
Chopsticks (From the chinese restaurant down the street haha)
Twine (from the boutique)
A stapler
Sissors
If you take a look at the Martha Stewart link it will show you how to fold and cut the hearts
I did three different sizes to make my heart chandelier.
-Cross the two chopsticks together to make an X shape and loop the twine around the crossing point until it is secured.
-Have the longest strand of twine going down from the cross section of your X and 4 shorter strands along the end points (You can play with this to get a lot of different looks for your chandelier)
-Push the twine in-between the folds in your heart to get it to stay on, you can staple it in place if it isn't holding
-Finally, stuff each heart with a little tissue paper to give it an added 3-D effect.
-Enjoy your pretty little paper heart chandelier!
Creativity comes from having to be resourceful with what you have, so don't be afraid to use different materials for your project :)
